Connecticut has law’s about everything or nearly everything and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception.
St. Patrick’s Day is 1 of 51 Days a year that is “to be proclaimed by the Governor.” Click here for a complete list.
By statute, “the Governor shall proclaim March seventeenth of each year to be St. Patrick’s Day to honor the Irish people, their culture and the contribution they have made to this state and country, which day shall be suitably observed by such public exercises in the State Capitol and elsewhere as the Governor designates.” Conn. Gen. Stat. 10-29(a)(15).
