Dem Rep Assaults College Student Over One Question (Update)

By Phil

ADVERTISEMENTS

I guess after spending 13 years in the House — and, more recently, under the iron fist of Nancy Pelosi — things can get kind of stressed.

But, does Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-NC) really have to take that stress out on a college student (the local ABC affiliate also picked up the story)?

The question that was apparently the straw the broke the proverbial camel’s back: “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?:”

Same video, different feed:

Additional background on Mr. Etheridge’s political situation here, and, more importantly, here are North Carolina’s assault laws.

And by the way, Congressman? You have no more of a right to know who this individual is than you do to make him get off the sidewalk of a public place unless you feel threatened by said questioner.

Also, being offended by questions is not a guaranteed right under America’s Bill of Rights (the 1st Amendment only guarantees the right of the individual to speak, not to be heard). However, “laying hands” on an individual would otherwise make one liable for charges in any situation, no matter where they were in this country.

Better go make myself another cup of Tea…

Update:

Rep. Etheridge has issued a statement in response.
