New study to evaluate medication for frequent complaint of sleepiness following brain injury and concussions

By Michael Kaplen

ADVERTISEMENTS

A new clinical study is underway to evaluate an investigational drug treatment for the excessive sleepiness suffered by many individuals following a concussion or other types of brain injury.

Clinical research sites across the world are working with biopharmaceutical company Cephalon, Inc., as part of the study to test the effectiveness and safety of an investigational treatment for people with excessive sleepiness caused by a concussion or head injury.

For this study, they are seeking adults (18 to 65 years old) who continue to have excessive sleepiness due to a concussion or head injury that happened at least 1 year ago and within the past 10 years People who think they may qualify for this study are encouraged to call 1-877-674-6317 or visit the study sponsor?s web site.  Those eligible to take part in the study will receive study-related medical care by medical professionals at no cost.

Sleepiness also referred to as cognitive fatigue or lack of energy is a frequent symptom following brain damage for which there are currently no available treatments or medication.  Hopefully this study will shed new light on this debilitating side effect.
