When EVERYBODY Agrees, that Sorta Makes You Think the Economy is Getting Worse

By Joseph McDaniel, Esq.

ADVERTISEMENTS
There's an old gag about self-perception and other-perception. If one person says you're a donkey, you should ignore it. If two people tell you you're a donkey, you should consider whether you might want to change your behavior.

If three people tell you you're a donkey, you should invest in a saddle and a pack.

So it is with the economy. The U.S. Economy was formerly the envy of the rest of the world, and it was, after all, a powerhouse. The United States used to have productive capacity beyond all other countries.

I miss that. I hope for the return of manufacturing in the United States, and it wouldn't take much to re-establish it. Maybe we'll get smart enough again as a nation to make it happen.

But for today, we'll just do a little forecasting of the economy, which has an impact on the number of bankruptcy cases that get filed in Arizona, which is my micro-focus on the universe.

Turns out that there are polls that ask if the economy is a donkey...uh, whether it's getting better or worse.

Rasmussen Reports took a poll recently with results that surprised even me.

Their polls showed: "However, when asked about their own personal finances, a plurality of Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated voters all say thngs (sic) are getting worse."

That suggests that the economy needs to buy a pack and a saddle, no?

It also suggests that the deluge of bankruptcy filings in Arizona, whether they're Chapter 7, Chapter 13, Chapter 11, or Chapter 12 cases, is going to increase.

Which, paradoxically, makes me sad. I like helping people get a fresh start by getting a discharge in their bankruptcy case in Arizona. I don't like the suffering which drives people to my door so I can help 'em.
