Handakte is a blog in German which posts about recent legal developments in Germany and has a posting indicating that the Deutsche Presserat (German Press Council) plans to extend its press code (Pressekodex, Kodex) to online content:
Via Handakte we also refer to the website GermanBlawgs, which has a comprehensive list of German law blawgs arranged alphabetically by blog name as well as by content in the categories.
Head of Legal is a blog out of the UK by barrister Carl Gardner, who posts a lot of material about the European Union, especially as it relates to the United Kingdom. He has recently highlighted the relative independence of the UK from EU dictates,
on the one hand, the judiciary:
"Lord Scott suggests that under the Human Rights Act the Lords can depart from Strasbourg's case law interpreting article 10 if it sees fit; Lord Bingham and Lady Hale gang up (as usual) to disagree with him and insist the task of domestic judges is to keep pace with Strasbourg, no more no less...."
and, on the other hand, the legislative branch:
"Parliament can always repeal the 1972 [ECA] Act (which would amount to leaving the EU, or at least causing a huge international political crisis by, in effect, repudiating all EU rules), and that proves that sovereignty is intact. Only if somehow Parliament's ability to repeal that Act were curtailed would sovereignty be limited."
Note in this connection that UK law can be found at the UK Statute Law Database.
Home Office Lawyer is a blog by Grant D. Griffiths, an attorney in Kansas, who operates out of a work space in his basement and posts about law practice from that perspective. A sample posting might be 4 Ways to Leverage More Time.
In this connection, we have also just added the blog Build a Solo Practice by Susan Cartier Liebel to our law blogroll
and The Complete Layer (TLC) to our linked sites.
The Complete Lawyer has a weblog directory by David Giacalone of:
"weblogs (blogs) whose stated description or mission falls within the scope of TCL's positioning: content that focuses solely on the professionalism and quality of life and career issues that impact every lawyer?s success and satisfaction."
Tom Kirkendall of Houston's Clear Thinkers has an interesting take on the Spitzer scandal in New York.
