: Greensboro Personal Injury LawyerWrong Way Wreck Ends in Two Deaths in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
By Lawrence Egerton
Several local media outlets are reporting on a fatal collision that occurred early Thursday morning, May 20, 2010.
Two Oldsmobiles crashed head-on because one of the motorists 'was headed northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 52,' according to an article on news-record.com.
One of the drivers died at the scene of the unfortunate accident and another died at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center from his injuries sustained in the wreck. The deaths make Winston-Salem's fifth and sixth traffic fatalities in 2010, with the fourth having just occurred on Monday morning, May 17, 2010.
Investigators are still uncertain about the details of what contributed to the fatal accident. Though they do not suspect speeding as a factor, it would come as no surprise if this early-morning collision was not related to alcohol, drugs and/or sleep deprivation. Indeed, nearly 25% of all state highway crashes occur at night when people are more likely to be sleepy or intoxicated.
Whatever the case, news of these two deaths saddens the Piedmont Triad community. We must all remember to remain vigilant on the road and take care with ourselves and each other.
