CTA Bus Crashes into Chicago School ? Was Road Rage to Blame?

On May 10 at around 4:00 p.m., a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) collided into the Rowe-Clark Math and Science Academy in Humboldt Park. The bus driver was swerving to avoid an SUV driver who abruptly merged into his lane. The 74-year-old SUV driver received a citation after attempting to leave the scene of the accident only after having to pull over from front-end damage to his vehicle.

Thankfully, the bus crashed into an empty utility room and no students were hurt. However, 12 bus passengers were taken to the hospital from the scene; 2 were critically injured.

Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the SUV driver was frustrated that the car in front of him was driving too slowly which caused him to speed in front of the bus. Driving recklessly is always dangerous to one's self and others. Luckily in this case there were no children outside the school at the time of the crash or else the results of this incident could have been tragic.
