By Edward Bills
A Maryland woman was awarded $3.5 million by a local jury in a malpractice lawsuit over an alleged botched surgery that left her unable to walk. Victoria Little underwent surgery for blocked arteries in 2007, and the lawsuit claims the doctors used an improper grafting technique. The surgery caused severe blood loss and injured her spine, leaving her a paraplegic. The jury awarded $1.3 million in noneconomic damages, $2 million for future medical bills, and more than $200,000 for past medical bills.
