: The GavelNew Website a Judicial Selection Resource
By Peter Hardin
A new website devoted to information and news about the escalating national debate over the best way to select judges is available from an initiative spearheaded by retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
The Denver-based Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System announced the effort in December. Called the O?Connor Judicial Selection Initiative, it seeks to boost state-level efforts to end the practice of electing judges.
IAALS recently launched the initiative website, intended to give visitors information about the patchwork of selection systems that exists nationwide. It is directed at a wide array of visitors, including lawmakers, lawyers, judges, community groups, business people, media and the public.
You can learn more about the initiative from this earlier Gavel Grab post. IAALS is a partner of Justice at Stake.
