Hit-and-Run Car Accident Injures Pedestrian

ADVERTISEMENTS

A 32-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a New York hit-and-run car accident in Elmont. The woman was crossing Linden Boulevard at 239th Street when she was hit by a driver whose car did not stop, according to a news report in the Long Island Press. She was brought to a local hospital and is said to have sustained a brain hemorrhage, facial and spine fractures. Police are describing the car as an older green Toyota Camry. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers in Nassau County at 1-800-244-TIPS.

Driving away from the scene of an accident is against the law in New York State. If you are a motorist who has been involved in an accident, the law requires you to stop and exchange information with the other parties involved. Such information can include driver's license, auto insurance and other contact information. Pedestrian accidents can result in major injuries including brain injuries, back or neck injuries, broken bones or paralysis. Pedestrian accidents could even result in death.
