By Greg Webb
Ford Motor Company has recalled 33,256 automobiles, including one of its best-sellers, the Fusion. Ford says that front seats and headrests might collapse backwards in a crash. This is a "voluntary" recall, according to the Nathional Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) web site. See NHTSA's website at: www.nhtsa.gov/ Other Ford models affected are the Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac, Mercury Milan, and Mercury Mountaineer.
This is a potential safety problem for these vehicles. NHTSA has said these autmobiles do not comply with federal requirements for head restraints.
Dealers will replace the manual seat recliners free of charge. Owners can call Ford at (866) 436-7332.
