Want to attend West Point, the Air Force Academy or the Naval Academy?

This month, Congressman Conaway hosted his annual Academy Day in San Angelo, TX. Academy Day is an opportunity for high school students and parents to meet with current cadets and admission officers from the U.S. Service Academies (The United States Air Force Academy, Naval, Military, Merchant Marine, and Coast Guard Academies. Nominations are required for all but the U.S. Coast Guard Academy). Students wishing to attend the academies must pass academic and fitness tests to attend and receive a academy nomination from a Member of Congress.

Two cadets and two midshipman from Texas District 11 attended Academy Day: Cadet 2/C Eric David Rode (Graduates 2012 from the Air Force Academy), Cadet 2/C Shane Michael Darville (Graduates 2011 from West Point), Midshipman 3/CWilliam Tyler Turbeville (Graduates 2012 from the Naval Academy), Midshipman 4/C Daniel Ross McClellan (Graduates 2013 from the Naval Academy) They gave a short presentation about what life is like attending a service academy and answered questions from students and parents about the application process.
