: Bodily Injury BlogJury Selection Begins in First Hepatitis C Outbreak Trial
By Edward Bills
Jury selection has started in a case involving one of the individuals infected with hepatitis C at a Las Vegas endoscopy clinic. The suit, filed against the drug manufacturer and distributer, claims that the manufacturer stopped producing single-procedure vials because it was less expensive to produce larger vials, despite being aware of potential risks of multidosing. The suit alleges that Teva Pharmaceuticals had logged 148 previous hepatitis C infections which were blamed on the reuse of single-use vials. The suit also alleges that the company didn?t have adequate warnings on the drug labels of the larger vials to prevent multidosing.
