SoCal attorney charged in insurance scam

Los Angeles attorney Susana Ragos Chung surrendered to police on Tuesday after Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley's office charged her with 28 felony crimes.  Chung is alleged to have filed false car insurance claims on behalf of Bay Area residents who authorities say faked their accidents. 

According to O'Malley's office, Chung hired Norberto "Chito" Mora to recruit drivers and stage accidents in Northern California. The drivers then were directed to visit body shops and chiropractors involved in the scam. The drivers would then get false estimates for car repairs and chiropractic treatments and Chung would file claims with insurance companies.

Chung would keep most of the money paid out by the insurance companies. She is scheduled to enter a plea in the case on May 28.
