Brain Injury World Conference

By Michael Kaplen

ADVERTISEMENTS

I'm on my way to Washington, D.C. today to participate in the 8th Annual Brain Injury World Conference sponsored by the International Brain Injury Association.

With over 1,000 registered participants, I am honored that I was selected to do a presentation on Friday on the Medical-Legal Aspects of Traumatic Brain Injury.

My presentation entitled NeuroLaw in the 21st century deals with many of the evidentiary issues faced in the court room in the trial of a brain injury case such as the misuse of the MMPI by inclusion of the Fake Bad Scale, issues of malingering and the ability of testing to establish this contention, use of PET scans, FMRI studies and diffusion tensor MRI studies to objectively show functional brain impairment and the issues surrounding levels of conscience in the vegetative state and minimally conscience state.

I look forward to seeing many of you in DC and sharing ideas.
