Intracranial Pressure and Brain Monitoring Conference

By Michael Kaplen

ADVERTISEMENTS

The 14th annual conference on Intracranial Pressure (ICP) and Brain Monitoring has been announced and scheduled to be held from September 12-16 2010 in Tubingen, Germany.

Deadline for abstract submission is May 10, 2010.

Intracranial pressure is one of the most important parameters to monitor the health of the human brain.  In trauma, stroke, hemorrhage and during the administration of anesthesia, the monitoring of intracranial pressure is of utmost importance and it's control can have dramatic effects on patient outcome.

Over the last several years, the medical profession has payed much more attention to the importance of ICP monitoring.  The conference joins together clinicians, including neurosurgeons, neurologists, intensive care specialists and anesthesiologists from around the world to discuss this important topic.

Several years ago, my brain injury law firmrepresented a young man who sustained severe anoxic brain damage due to the failure to properly evaluate his intracranial pressure during anesthesia.  By allowing the ICP to fall to unacceptably low levels, the brain's ability to auto-regulate the oxygen supply to the brain was severely compromised.

You can obtain more information about this conference by clicking here.
