: New York City Personal Injury LawyerOpening Car Door Knocks Bicyclist into Path of NYC Transit Bus and Kills Her
By Paul Napoli
A bicyclist is dead after an opening car door struck and pushed her into the path of a bus, says NY1.com.
The accident happened early Wednesday morning, just before 8:30 a.m. as an unidentified 57-year-old woman rode her bicycle southbound on Crotona Avenue near East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx. The driver of a parked 2005 Toyota Camry opened the driver's side door and struck the bicyclist, causing her to veer into the path of a southbound BX17 New York City Transit bus, which hit and killed her.
The New York Daily News reports that passengers on the bus witnessed the accident, one saying, 'It happened so fast.'
Paramedics responded to the scene, but the bicyclist had died. They transported the bus driver to St. Barnabas Hospital where they treated him for shock. He will undergo routine alcohol testing.Police issued a summons to the driver of the Toyota.
