Friday Fun!

1. I confess, I watch The Big Gay Sketch Show mostly because of (foxy) Kate McKinnon and Julie Goldman. Much like Saturday Night Live, the show is usually hit or miss. However, I did think this skit was pretty funny. And sort of true. In an exaggerated way.

Lesbian Speed Dating

2. Healing vibes to Patrick Swayze who recently announced that he is battling pancreatic cancer. Johnny Castle as played by Mr. Swayze was my first man-crush ever since I saw him take Baby out of the corner. (Although admittedly, I also had a secret woman-crush on Penny.)

3. Speaking of '80s movies, remember the movie Mannequin? Shoutout to the first gay-ish person I saw on television as a child: Hollywood Montrose. Way to break the mold, girl.

4. I recently attended a Bon Jovi concert and even though I was sitting in the very worst seats one could have possible sat in at this concert, just going to a Bon Jovi concert made me a little bit more..... American. By the end of the night, I am pretty sure I was standing on my feet with the rest of the crowd (of mostly women), pumping my arm in the air, eyes closed singing "Livin' on a Prayer."

5. Back in Lesbo-land though, I also recently attended singer-songwriter Missy Higgins' concert in which I saw many familiar Chicago lesbian faces. After much speculation during the concert as to whether the very talented and foxy Ms. Higgins could be a lesbian (on the one hand she was wearing a summer dress thingy but then again so does Alice Pieszecki, and her hand her song lyrics are pretty gender neutral), I immediately googled her upon getting home.

Upon doing so, I found the following tidbit on her Wikipedia page:

"Higgins' sexuality was the subject of speculation due to the content of her lyrics; she does not use male or female pronouns to describe her partner during her concerts. In an interview with lesbian magazine Cherrie, under the headline "Missy Higgins on life, music and not being straight", when asked if she falls under the 'moniker' of ?not-so-straight? girls, she laughed and said, "Um, yeah, definitely". She then went on to say "I think sexuality is a fluid thing and it's becoming increasingly more acceptable to admit that you're that way", without elaborating on whether she is lesbian, bisexual, or otherwise.[12][13] As a result of press coverage, she clarified her statement and said, "I?ve been in relationships with both men and women so I guess I fall most easily under the category 'bisexual'."[14] That second statement, which appeared on her MySpace page, stated outright that she is "not, never have been, and never will be ashamed" of her sexuality. She also criticized the media for what she termed "twisting her words around".[14]"

So, you're saying there's a chance! (For other people, of course.)

Most importantly though, she put on a really good show and she's a really talented musician.
