It is with great sadness that I pass on the news of David Leonard's passing.  David was a colleague for many years and I considered him a dear friend.  He was a consumate scholar of evidence law--and I have fond memories of my long conversations with him about hearsay, character evidence, and much else.  He was, above all else, a good man--someone with great personal integrity and an unfailing sense of decency and justice.  A memorial web page is available here.
