Bar Should Have Prevented Shooting, Lawsuit Says

A lawsuit has been filed against a West Virginia bar where a man was shot in the stomach in 2008, the Charleston Gazette reports. The lawsuit claims that Sneekers bar was negligent in allowing a man to bring a gun into the bar and then failed to act when he pulled it out, which resulted in the shooting of Jerry MaCallister. MaCallister claims that bouncers at the bar had, earlier in the night, removed Michael Messer from the bar for drunkenly threatening other patrons. Later in the night, the lawsuit says, bouncers let Messer back in to the bar with a handgun. The lawsuit is seeking compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering and lost wages.
