FTC is Looking to Put an End to Loan Modification Scams

To combat fraud, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission seeks to ban foreclosure rescue and mortgage-modification-services companies from charging upfront fees. Under a proposed FTC rule, the companies could get paid only after providing the services.
