: Law Blog - WSJ.comMorgenthau, 90, Lands at Hard-Charging Wachtell Lipton
By Ashby Jones
The title says it all: former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau has joined Wachtell Lipton.
According to an AP story (link not available), Morgenthau said he’s long admired Wachtell, adding that it has helped to advance the law and the legal profession.
Morgenthau retired at age 90 as district attorney, after 35 years in the job. Cyrus Vance Jr. was elected to replace Morgenthau; he took office on Jan. 1.
We have no idea what Morgenthau is going to do at Wachtell, which isn’t the typical destination for politicians looking for cushy post-elected-office careers. Then again, Morgenthau isn’t your typical former DA. Maybe he’s still got a few all-nighters in him, who knows?
Congrats to Wachtell and congrats to Morgenthau. We’ll be looking for your name, Bob, on future missives to clients on what the increasingly sophisticated activist-shareholder community is up to.
