: Harrell BlogWhen Should A Democrat Quit?

This question has been the subject of much discussion over the past week. My humble thought is that a candidate has every right to keep pursuing the Democratic nomination long as she (or he)has a legitimate shot at winning either a majority of the pledged delegated or a majority of the popular vote--excluding Florida and Michigan. At this point the primary won't be won without super-delegate votes. I think that a candidate can make a legitimate claim for those votes if she's won a majority of the pledge delegates or, given the imperfectly democratic nature of some of the contests, the overall national primary vote. In practical terms I think that means Sen. Clinton has to win the popular vote in both Texas and Ohio; without that, she has only the remotest chance of winning the popular vote nationally; overcoming Obama's delegate lead, as his campaign relentlessly points out, would be a virtual impossibility.
