By Chrissie Cole
Caramia Furniture and Mother Hubbard Cupboard, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Diane Cribs because the slats on the drop-side of the crib can detach, posing a fall and entrapment hazard.
The company has received numerous reports of the slats detaching from the cribs. There have been no reports of injury.
The recall involves Caramia 'Diane' drop-side cribs manufactured between September 2002 and June 2004. The manufacture dates can be found on a label inside the headboard or footboard. The recalled cribs were sold nationwide at children's product and mass merchandise stores.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled cribs and to contact Caramia Furniture for a free replacement drop side.
Consumers can call Caramia at (877) 728-0342, or visit their Web site at www.caramiafurniture.com for more information.
In November, more than two million drop side cribs were recalled by Stork Craft.
Crib Safety Reminders:
Hardware should be checked and tightened regularly to ensure the crib is sturdy. When using a drop-side crib, parents should make sure the drop-side or other moving part operates properly.
Always check all sides and corners of the crib for disengagement, which can create a gap and entrap a child.
