Blank Rome lands six new attorneys in LA

Blank Rome announced yesterday that it has added six new attorneys to its Los Angeles office - five to build a new labor and employment practice and a sixth who specializes in corporate law.

The labor attorneys, who announced their decision on Jan. 12, come from Los Angeles labor and employment firm Knee, Ross & Silverman. They include one of that firm's founding partners, Howard M. Knee. He joins Blank Rome as a partner in the employment, benefits and labor group. He advises clients on all aspects of labor and employment relations and brings more than 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.

Also joining from Knee, Ross & Silverman is former senior associate Michael L. Ludwig, who joins Blank Rome of counsel, and Jim Newman, formerly of counsel who joins as an associate. Newman previously worked in-house at SBC Communications Inc. for over 10 years.

Two former associates at Knee, Ross & Silverman, Mary Pierce and Colleen Carolan, join as associates at Blank Rome. Carolan previously worked in-house as employment counsel for Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Pierce's clients include large media and entertainment companies and family-owned local businesses.

Dennis P. R. Codon joins the firm from Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP where he practiced in the Corporate Governance and Special Situations, and Business Litigation groups. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer in the Law Department of Unocal Corporation where he worked for nearly 30 years.
