Golden Globe Nominations Announced

By Jacqueline Lipton

ADVERTISEMENTS

So, the Golden Globe nominations came out today.  Do they help me with planning my proposed winter movie spree?  Well...

Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock each received two nominations - Streep for "Julie and Julia" and "It's Complicated" and Bullock for "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal".  I've only seen one of these three films, but I probably should add the others to my list.

Colin Firth is BACK in "The Single Man" and getting rave reviews.  This isn't out in Ohio yet, but I guess I need to add it to the list as well.

Several nominations for "500 Days of Summer".  This seems surprising.  I didn't see it, but don't remember it getting great reviews.

"Up in the Air" (also not released yet?) seems to be in the lead with the most nominations, including one for "Twilight" supporting actress, Anna Kendrick.  But sadly for me that's the closest "The Twilight Saga:  New Moon" got to a nomination.  Are we really saying that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson don't hold a candle to Meryl and Colin Firth?  OK, I guess I have to give them that one...

(Oh, and note to self:   must see Jeff Bridges in "A Crazy Heart", particularly as I don't get to see "TRON Legacy" until NEXT Christmas.)

And sorry, Tim, none of your UCC movies made the list this year either...
