Drinker Biddle Grows in California, Adds Century City Office

Drinker Biddle & Reath expanded its West Coast presence Tuesday.

The firm said it added six attorneys in the Los Angeles area, along with a new Century City office.

Partners George T. Caplan and Henry Shields Jr. lead the group along with partners Kate S. Gold and Kristopher S. Davis, counsel Paul M. Gelb and associate Pamela K. Graham.

The addition of the litigation team gives Drinker Biddle 10 attorneys across the two Southern California offices.

?The move to Drinker Biddle brings together lawyers who have practiced for many years at Irell & Manella and Kaye Scholer, and who in joining the firm?s other litigators in Los Angeles are part of a strategy to build one of the best and most sophisticated litigation practices locally and in the state,? the firm said in a statement.

Drinker Biddle has slowly been adding groups of attorneys to offices across the country where it wants to build up strong litigation practices, the firm said. According to its count, Drinker Biddle has added nearly 50 attorneys in the past three years through acquisitions of smaller groups in New Jersey, Chicago, San Francisco, Delaware, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

Caplan and Shields have handled litigation matters for Fortune 100 companies in the insurance, energy, entertainment, financial services and real estate industries. Davis handles commercial litigation and Gold works in the area of labor and employment litigation. Gelb and Graham are both commercial litigators.
