Experimental Exam Format - Instructions

ADVERTISEMENTS

Excerpts from three videotapes that we have seen in class are posted at http://www.hofstralawit.org/videos/faculty_monroe-freedman/.  The final exam will be based on the facts of one these excerpts.  You will be expected to know these facts; they will not be repeated in the exam.  The exam will put you into the role of an associate in an office, a clerk for a judge, an associate bar counsel, a lawyer writing a memo of law, or similar role, who is required to deal professionally with some or all of the facts in the excerpt.

If you experience pauses in playing these tapes, hit the pause button and then restart after 15 seconds.  That should cure the problem.  If not, you might have to use another computer.

You may research the issues raised in these excerpts and consult with anyone you choose.  The exam itself will be closed-book.  You will be expected to be familiar with the substance of applicable Model Rules, including relevant exceptions, but you will not be required to memorize rule numbers.  If close analysis of any rule(s) is necessary, the rule(s) will be provided to you.

It is not necessary to view the entire episode on which these excerpts are based.  However, if you want to do so, the tapes are on reserve in the law library.
