Should there be Library liaisons in other industries?

The Wikiman posts an interesting question in his latest blog post "what about having library liaisons in other industries?" In the post the Wikiman asks whether it would be mutually beneficial if there were closer ties between organisations like BIALL and CILIP.

This would not only be beneficial to the organisations in terms of encouraging members to join these respective organisations, but could promote these organisations above and beyond their usual membership base.

BIALL is certainly very proactive in this area, with several members on the CILIP Update Editorial board and links with many organisations in the UK and overseas, but is there more BIALL could do?
