: Legal Pad | LAJudge denies request for alleged unaired confession in Haditha massacre trial
By Jason Siegel
A military judge in California threw out an unaired CBS interview with the Marine squad leader charged in the massacre of 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq.
Prosecutors say the footage shows Staff Sergant Frank Weuterich confessing that he commanded soldiers to shoot first and ask questions later.
The 2005 murders included children.
CBS said testimony is available from witnesses and that subpoenaing the "60 Minutes" interview would be unreasonable, oppressive and make media an investigative arm of the government, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
Meeks is schedule to be court-martialed next week.
