A Madison County jury took less than two hours to deliberate in a nursing home negligence suit against Rosewood Care Center of Alton. The only thing they had to consider what damages to award after the Madison County Judge struck the defendant?s pleadings on the negligence issue and directed the verdict on the liability issues for the plaintiff. The jury awarded the victim $5,000 for his claim of wrongful death and $15,000 for the violation of the Nursing Home Care Act. It appeared that the victim fell while at the nursing home and it broke her wrist and hip. It is the second verdict this year against the Rosewood Care Center in Madison County.
