Evenflo Co. Inc. announced a recall on 1,000,000 child car seats as they pose a safety hazard in the event of a side impact car crash. During such a crash, the car seat may become separated from its base, which could lead to catastrophic injury or death.
The included car seats being recalled are models 390, 391, 534, and 552 Discovery Car Seats or associated travel systems manufactured from April 2005 through January 2008. Registered owners will be notified by Evenflo, Inc., and a free supplemental dual-hook fastener will be provided to them. The hook will ensure that the car seat remains attached to its base in the event of a car crash.
Evenflo may be contacted between 8 a.m. and 5p.m. EST at 1-800-356-2229 for more information and the free dual-hook fastener, or via the internet at www.evenflo.com.
