Representing a horse, of course, of course

Horses might not be the first thing that comes to mind when looking to diversify a law firm's practice areas, but it's apparently an untapped resource.

The horse industry pulled in $7 billion in California and nearly half of the horses are in San Diego. The San Diego Business Journal profiles one of the few firms to start an equine law practice, Best Best & Krieger.

Four associates at the firm, specializing in environmental law and business formation, started the group last summer.

According to their website, they represent equestrian facilities, owners, trainers, horse parks, horse associations, nonprofit entities, tack and feed stores and other equestrian businesses. They also list their credentials as experienced as horse owners and riders.
