: Legal Pad | LANew women's legal association formed
By Richard Binder
Laura Crane, a real estate attorney based in the Ontario office of Best Best & Krieger, has founded the Inland Empire Legal Association of Women. The group will hold a 7 p.m. Sept. 19 gathering at a private residence in Redlands to introduce itself, with special guest Holly Fujie, the immediate past president of the California State Bar.
The immediate goal, besides getting members, is to establish networking, mentoring and community service. The group will use mentoring to address issues that have emerged for women in the legal and other professions and are often referred to as work-life balance.
The association, with a shorthand name of ieLaw, was first proposed by Marcie Gardner, a private criminal defense attorney in a two-lawyer Ranch Cucamonga firm. Gardner said she was the first associate in her firm to go part-time to juggle work and family life.
