By Andrea
It didn't last. She had an okay night, but woke up before I was ready and fussed all morning, and I'm in hit-by-a-truck-god-I-need-a-nap mode.
We went to our baby class today, Great Beginnings. Lots of great baby info, I think I'll really like it. Becca made quite the impression. She fussed on and off, farted during infant massage, peed on the changing table, and spit up after nursing, before finally falling asleep on me. I think she was trying to flirt with the cute Jewish baby boy across from us, who also fussed most of the time.
I'm tempted to apologize for just blogging baby details these days. But that's my life right now. And I'll probably enjoy the record later on. I'd really like to be writing awesome manifestos about race and power and motherly love like Lilia has been doing, but I don't have the concentration power.
I have some disjointed thoughts. I am a person who is clearly non-white, although people frequently guess an ethnicity they have a relationship to instead of Mexican-American, which is what I am. And I've given birth to a baby who will most likely pass for white, but won't be, and will experience certain kinds of isolation. But who also will be "legally" Latino if she wants, and be able to take advantage of that in certain ways. There's a lot going on there. But I'll have to wait to expand on it until I'm a little less cracked-out.
She's napping. I'm going to try too.
