: Illinois Nursing Home Abuse BlogEx-Nurse Admits Guilt in Elderly Abuse Case
By Levin & Perconti
A former nursing home nurse is facing up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree assault on an at-risk adult. The nurse is accused of neglecting and sometimes abusing a mentally comprised 65 year old woman while bilking Medicaid for the cost of the care. The sheriff?s office found the woman locked in a bedroom in squalid conditions, surrounded by rotting food, urine and feces, and severely malnourished. The woman will be sentenced for her elder abuse. The woman was placed in a nursing home where her health is improving.
