Court Strikes Down Several Louisiana Advertising Rules

ADVERTISEMENTS

A federal district court has held that several provisions of Louisiana's advertising rules, which were to take effect in October, are unconstitutional.  The opinion is here.

The provisions that were struck down were Rules 7.5(b)(2)(C) (containing a requirement to disclose non-lawyer spokesmen), 7.6(d) (governing computer accessed communications concerning a lawyer's services), and 7.7 (as it pertains to filing requirements for internet advertising).  The language of the rules that were struck down can be found here and here.
