: Kentucky Law BlogCourier Journal: "New Stinson charge dismissed"
By Michael Stevens
A Jefferson Circuit judge [Susan Schultz Gibson] on Friday dismissed a felony wanton-endangerment charge against former Pleasure Ridge Park High School football coach Jason Stinson in the death of a 15-year-old player who collapsed from heat stroke during practice.
Comment: Judge Gibson has been making quick, hard, and solid rulings in this case from the beginning, and thus points out two things we ought to consider in revamping our judicial system - first, we have family courts, probate courts, etc., then why not a criminal court and a civil court with judges assigned (or who actively seek those positions) who only handle those type of cases? second, judges with long experience in front of the bench tend to do well when sitting on that bench as Judge Gibson has spent a long career as a prosecutor and is thus well-suited to the demands of a criminal trial.
