?How to Read a Legal Opinion?

By Amy Levine

ADVERTISEMENTS

There is a great article about “How to Read a Legal Opinion” by Orin S. Kerr that was published in The Green Bag Journal in 2007.  The article is perfect for new law students or students that have questions about how to read opinions but are afraid to ask!  The parts of an opinion are explored, some common legal terms found in opinions are explained, and the author tells you what you really need to know from reading a case. The article is available from SSRN.
