Salmonella Beef Outbreak Illnesses Rises While Cargill Refuses to Identify Where the Beef Was Sold

Fresno, CA: As salmonella illness totals continue to rise, officials at Cargill, Inc. refuse to identify the grocery chains to which their contaminated beef was sold. Last Thursday, Beef Packers, Inc. (owned by Cargill, Inc.) recalled over 400 tons of ground beef shipped this summer because of a foodborne illness outbreak of a drug-resistant strain of Salmonella Newport.
