: The Faculty LoungeA Dog Of A Case?
By Tim Zinnecker
Anwar Sadat was the former
President of Egypt who shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 with
Israel's Prime Minister Menachem Begin.
One of the characters in this year's movie I Love You, Man has a dog.
The dog's name is Anwar Sadat. Apparently the owner of the dog selected that moniker not because the pooch favors Sadat's politics, but because of a certain physical resemblance.
Now comes word that Rokaya Sadat, the Egyptian leader's daughter, is seeking some sort of legal redress against the makers of the film for "serious psychological and moral damages" caused by the name association. "Muslims believe dogs can violate ritual purity and consider them unclean. Calling someone a dog is one of the worst insults in the Middle East."
Story here.
