?I am pleased that the New York State Board of Regents voted to elect Dr. David M. Steiner as New York State Education Commissioner and President of the University of the State of New York. Dr. Steiner is a visionary education reformer whose efforts to transform teacher preparation and improve teacher quality have made him a nationally recognized leader in the field.
"Serving most recently as the Dean of Hunter College School of Education at City University of New York, Dr. Steiner increased enrollment and strengthened critical programs that train future teachers.
