Michelle Obama's Gaffe

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
I saw a rerun of Michelle Obama on Larry King last night. She was really good.

Even a little too authentic when Larry asked her if she was "prepared to lose" and she said "Oh, yeah."

It was an interesting contrast to Hillary's "I don't think about it" line with Katie Couric.

But she made a gaffe on this point.

For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country, she told a Milwaukee crowd today, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change.

Ugh. That may come back to bite her. Victor Davis Hanson at NRO is calling this evidence that she's a "loose cannon." I like Hanson, but that goes a little far.

But it's certainly not good for her. The Boston Globe properly asks:

"So what did Michelle Obama think of the United States before her husband decided he wanted to run the place?"

Ouch. Winning the Cold War? Uniting after 9/11? Defeating the Taliban?

Take your pick. I was pretty proud of my country after these things. Did Michelle Obama forget about them when she made her statement?
