Cox to join Bingham

Christopher Cox, the former top U.S. securities markets watchdog when George W. Bush was president, announced today that he will join law firm Bingham McCutchen LLP as a partner in Southern California.

Cox, 56, will be part of Bingham's corporate, mergers and acquisitions, and securities practice and its affiliated Bingham Consulting Group.

Cox served as a Republican congressman representing parts of Orange County from 1988 to 2005. Previously, from 1978 to 1986, he worked for Los Angeles-based Latham & Watkins LLP, where he headed the firm?s Orange County corporate department.
