Lewis University Opens Paralegal Program

ADVERTISEMENTS
Lewis University in Romeoville is enrolling students in its new paralegal studies program.

The four-year bachelor of arts degree program is available to traditional students, as well as in an accelerated format for working adults.

Informational sessions about the accelerated programs are from 5-7 p.m. July 21 and 29 and Aug. 4 at the Lewis University Shorewood campus, 247 Brookforest Ave.

"Paralegal studies is an increasingly popular field because of the increasing demand for legal services in every aspect of our society," said Huma Zia, program director for paralegal studies. "Paralegals may perform functions delegated by an attorney, such as conducting interviews with clients and witnesses, conducting legal research, and drafting documents." Zia has worked for more than 10 years as an attorney.

"We want our graduates with bachelor's degrees in paralegal studies to be able to walk into an office with knowledge of a specific area of the law, familiarization with legal documents, an understanding of court systems and a values-based education. On their first day of employment, we want to them be an asset to their employer," Zia added.

For additional information on these programs, contact the office of admission at 815-836-5250 or the office of graduate and adult admission at 815-836-5610.
