Federalist Society Debate on the Sotomayor Confirmation Hearings

By Jack M. Balkin

ADVERTISEMENTS
The Federalist Society is sponsoring an online debate with respect to the confirmation hearings for Judge Sotomayor, see here, which begin tomorrow. The panel of folks includes Tom Goldstein, Wendy Long, Mike Seidman, Scott Moss, Ed Whelan, and me. I am told that other commentators may join our discussion as the week goes on. Though I doubt that Judge Sotomayor will have much trouble getting confirmed given the composition of the Senate, we are having an interesting discussion about some of the areas in which she might have some trouble as well as the proper scope of questioning by Senators. I hope that we can broach some other areas of controversy too, even if they do not necessarily apply solely to this nominee.
