Everything In My Head, In A Blog Post

ADVERTISEMENTS

Okay, if I'm going to say I'm going to post more, I should post more.  Here are the things currently floating around in my head:

-- It's kind of hard to adjust to Nina's residency schedule.  Basically she works from 7 AM until somewhere between 7:00 and 9:30 at night, depending on the day.  Six days a week, for now.  The schedule changes every month, so next month she'll be working overnight every 4th night and have the next day off, and then in September she'll have more normal working hours, and weekends off, for a month.  And so on.  We were spoiled by having 5 weeks of time together right after the wedding, where we both had flexible schedules during the day, and could spend a lot of time together.  What made it not so impossible to be long-distance when I was in LA was that we were able to be in touch at various points throughout the day, whether by e-mail or by phone.  That's harder now, because she's in the hospital dealing with patients, and doesn't get a lunch break or anything like that.  So it's an adjustment.

-- This post is interrupted by finding out the Mets just traded Ryan Church for Jeff Francouer, which is a pretty stupid trade, but no one else reading this blog cares, so I'll skip past it.

-- I have an anonymous blog out there in the world somewhere with two weeks of posts on it.  Find it and you win a secret prize.  The secret prize is please keep it a secret for now.  But I guess I don't really mean that or I wouldn't be posting about it.

-- Adjusting to married life isn't really so much about adjusting to married life as it is adjusting to living together.  I imagine if people live together before they get married, there's really no difference once they get married.  It's little stuff, like a bizarrely silly conversation we had last night about the thing on top of the faucet in the shower that tells the water whether to come out of the showerhead or out of the faucet, and my brain's inability to assume anything other than the thing being down, so that if it's up, and I turn on the water, and it comes out of the showerhead, I get unexpectedly wet... and that even if this happens every day, I still can't remember to check before I turn the water on.  This is probably too stupid to even try and blog about.

-- We got our wedding video.  It's interesting to see who danced and who didn't, I guess.  There are not a lot of interesting things in a wedding video.  Pictures are much cooler to look at than video.  It's disappointing that anyone who didn't dance basically isn't in the video, but at the same time I'm not sure we would really want a video of people sitting and not dancing, so maybe it's fine.  It must be very boring to be a wedding videographer, much more than being a wedding photographer, which actually seems pretty interesting.

-- Top Chef Masters is not as good as Top Chef.
