By Terrye Conroy
Graduates studying for the bar who wish to familiarize themselves with the latest South Carolina case law may find the following resources helpful:
The South Carolina Lawyer magazine includes summaries of recent developments in the law by topic. It is published bimonthly. The law library keeps last year?s issues on reserve. An index of articles by author and subject is available online at the South Carolina Bar?s website. It is also available on Westlaw and LexisNexis.
South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, South Carolina?s legal newspaper includes Opinion Digests, organized by court and topic, summarizing the latest South Carolina appellate court opinions. The current month of issues is located in the Reserve Room at the Circulation Desk. It is available on Westlaw and LexisNexis.
E-Blast is an online newsletter available through the South Carolina Bar. Archived issues are accessible on its website dating back to June 3, 2008. Each issue of the Bar?s newsletter includes an Advance Sheet update with summaries of new SC Supreme Court and Court of Appeals decisions and links to the opinions on the SC Judicial Department?s website.
The Shearhouse Advance Sheets are accessible online through the South Carolina Judicial Department?s website. They contain opinions and orders of the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals as well as notices and rule changes. (Post-TC)
