Teenager Dies in Weekend Car Accident

A tragic car accident took the life of 16-year-old Garret Russell. Troopers said about 5 p.m. Sunday, a 1991 white BMW driven by an unnamed 16-year-old smashed into a 2006 Chevy pickup. There were four teenagers inside the BMW and Russell was in the passenger seat at the time of the accident. Troopers said they don?t know if alcohol was a factor, but they are sure speed played a role. “The 16-year-old driver went around another vehicle approaching this curve and didn’t realize that there was another vehicle coming in his direction and was struck head on,” said Department of Public Safety Trooper Ramiro Saldivar.
