Oops, Removal?

Are people making a federal case out of Britney's conservatorship?

We mean that literally!

The Civil Procedure Prof Blog has nothing on this *yet* but TMZ and the e-rags are all over it. A lawyer for Sam Lufti (Britney's so-called friend and manager) is trying to get her conservatorship case removed to federal court.

Just how crucial the "unique interplay between those medications covered by the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act [...] and the utterly stifling control imposed upon her by the conservator" is here remains to be seen, but we bet 100 thongs the case stays with the state.

Although it reads like a horror story from a state hospital, this document is basically Lufti's reaction to being cut off from his cash cow by her daddy/conservator. In fact, it mentions Ms. Spears being cut off from her phone and friends. But the Spears parents (such as they are) set out to keep her from Lufti, whom they alleged drugged her into a stupor. So of course they cut her off from friends like this and the prescription drugs.

See the frantic Crazy New Legal Papers in Britney Case, TMZ Staff, TMZ (February 14, 2008). TMZ may act dumb, but they were smart enough to obtain and post the "crazy" notice of removal.
